The National Institute for Health Specialties has announced the commencement date of the final "written and clinical " Emirati Board examinations, which will begin in October and extend through November of the current year. These examinations will cover the following specializations: Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Neonatology.
The policies, regulations, and specific examination procedures have been prepared and approved. Eligibility for the examinations has been determined in consultation with various specialized scientific committees, which include experts from different healthcare entities in the country. Dr. Mohamed Al-Houqani, the Secretary-General of the National Institute for Health Specialties, explained that success in the final examinations will lead to the awarding of Emirati Board certificates, a pioneering development that supports healthcare services in the country by providing a highly qualified healthcare professionals.
Dr. Al-Houqani also highlighted that the National Institute for Health Specialties is actively recruiting examiners from the national workforce as part of its commitment to empowering, qualifying, and training professionals and enhancing national competencies and skills in the medical education sector.
Dr. Al-Houqani pointed out that eligibility for entry into the final board examinations includes all trainees who have successfully completed the training in accredited programs by NIHS and have passed the written examinations in the first part. It is expected that 165 resident doctors will undergo final examinations this year. It is worth mentioning that the National Institute for Health Specialties held the first part of the "written" examinations in June 2023, with the participation of 384 resident doctors, achieving a success rate of 94.2%.
