To raise awareness in educational health institutions in the country of the "Emirati Board" certificate requirements, the National Institute for Health Specialties organized a workshop with training programs directors and doctors at the Emirates Health Services. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary-General at the National Institute for Health Specialties, presented the institute’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives, which aim to develop the health sector in the country by enhancing the scientific and professional levels of doctors, and health professions in various specialties, in cooperation with local and international educational institutions, bodies and medical and health organizations.
As well as enhance the level and quality of medical higher education, training programs, and internships and provide steps and processes to maintain the quality of clinical education. The Secretary-General explained the main themes in governance, evaluation, and accreditation, and focused on the need to adhere to accreditation standards, which aim to raise the efficiency of residency and fellowship programs in the country.
Thirty scientific committees were formed to formulate accreditation standards for more than thirty specialties, with the participation of 289 consultants from various health authorities in the country. He also mentioned the accreditation steps, which start with visiting the website, submitting applications through the electronic platform for accreditation, followed by reviewing the application and sending a team of assessors to the institute to submit their report to the Central Accreditation Committee, which studies and reviews the evaluators’ recommendations and submits its final recommendations to Secretary-General.
At the end of the workshop, accreditation assessors who fulfilled the conditions to attend the specialized course and interviews that qualify them to evaluate health institutions in the country were honored. Emirates Health Services, in line with the UAE directions and vision in strengthening the health system in the country, seeks to provide medical education programs with high-quality standards in line with the EHS vision and strategic goals, which aim to enrich the health care workforce in the country with highly skilled and qualified doctors to provide safe health care with international standards.
From this standpoint, EHS seeks to obtain institutional accreditation for its health facilities as educational facilities from the National Institute for Health Specialties and to provide medical training and education with the best local and international standards.
