The National Institute for Health Specialties (Emirati Board) announced the accreditation of the first two institutions in the country, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Zayed Military Hospital. The announcement was made in cooperation within the activities of the Arab Health Exhibition on the platform of the Department of Health - in which, the Secretary-General of the Institute, Dr. Mohammad Al Houqani, honored Dr. Maha Al Fahim, Director of Medical Affairs at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, and Dr. Fayza Al Amri, Director of Medical Education in the Medical Services at Zayed Military Hospital, for their efforts to raise training standards and obtain institutional accreditation from the Institute.
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Zayed Military Hospital are among the leading health institutions and the first to obtain accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties, which gives them the opportunity to obtain programs accreditation for health specialties for residency and fellowship programs, in an effort to enable medical trainees to obtain Emirati board certificates.
The announcement, which was made on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Abu Dhabi Department of Health platform, was attended by Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health, Dr. Sarhan Al Neyadi, Commander of the Medical Services, Dr. Abdullah Al Ghaithi, Commander of Zayed Military Hospital, and Dr. Ghanem Al Hassani, Director of the Department of Education at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, and a number of officials from various health authorities in the country. In this context, the Secretary-General of the National Institute for Health Specialties, Dr. Mohammad Al Houqani, commended the efforts and endeavours made by health institutions in providing a distinguished training environment that allows trainees to obtain training in the specialized field according to the best international standards. In addition, the institute’s accreditation standards and requirements have been developed based on the best health practices in the world.
Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi pointed that Abu Dhabi Health Department’s support for the institute is to standardize accreditation requirements and improve training and evaluation for residency and fellowship programs in Abu Dhabi. In conjunction with this event, the accreditation team at the institute is conducting a series of workshops and evaluation visits to introduce accreditation requirements in order to implement the best training standards evaluation, and improving the medical education system in the country.
