The National Institute for Health Specialties has awarded institutional accreditation to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City SSMC, for a period of five years, after fulfilling the accreditation requirements in line with the latest international standards and practices. In the presence of Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary-General of the National Institute for Health Specialties, Dr. Naser Ammash – chief executive officer of SSMC of SSMC, and leaders in medical education.
Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary-General of the National Institute for Health Specialties, said that the institutional and program accreditation standards have been prepared in accordance with the best international practices in medical education and in collaboration with health authorities. He added that the National Institute for Health Specialties ensures adherence to these standards to improve the quality of medical educational practices at the national level.
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Naser Ammash, chief executive officer of SSMC said: “Focusing on having the most competent and skilled workforce through such strong educational offerings and accreditation programs at SSMC contributes to our vision of being the preferred integrated health care destination for the care of complex, serious and rare diseases. Through improved educational standards, we are able to respond to patient health care needs locally.”
The accreditation provides an opportunity to enable interns to obtain the UAE Board certificates, which awards a consultant degree. The National Institute for Health Specialties is a health accreditation body at the National Qualifications Center - Ministry of Education, accrediting programs and issuing health professional certificates, continuing professional education certificates, and diploma certificates. It is also responsible for developing and approving national professional standards for health qualifications, to ensure the quality of accredited health programs in educational institutions.
