Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary-General of the National Institute for Health Specialties, handed over the institutional accreditation certificate to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, having met the institutional accreditation standards for the Emirati Board for a period of five years.
Dr. Sultan Alkaram, Chief Executive Officer at Tawam Hospital said that this achievement is in line with the vision of the UAE to improve the quality of training for resident physicians and maintain the highest evaluation standards, which qualifies physicians to obtain a certificate of medical specialization and provide the best diagnostic and treatment services to patients. He added, at the same time, this achievement is the joint efforts of the educational and medical teams in providing the best levels of education, training and medical qualification, in line with the highest standards of international healthcare.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Dalal Al Mansoori, Chief Medical Director at Tawam Hospital, and Dr. Khaled Al Dahmani, Director of Medical Affairs at Tawam Hospital.
The National Institute for Health Specialties was established by a Cabinet Resolution and attached to the United Arab Emirates University to enhance the quality of medical education by accrediting hospitals and conducting specialized professional examinations in accordance with the best international standards. The Institute conducts workshops and evaluation visits to introduce accreditation requirements in order to implement the best standards of training and evaluation, and to ensure improvement of the medical education system in the country. So far, the Institute has awarded 8 institutions the Institutional Accreditation, which qualifies the trainees to receive the Emirate Board after fulfilling the training and examination requirements.
